![]() From time to time, Baltimore City Schools may send messages about some schools closing early on very hot days. Creative City is fully air-conditioned and we do NOT close early when these announcements happen. We will always contact you directly if there is a change to our school schedule for any reason.

Please send your images to Julie Skokna by April 20. Include your child’s name and the educator whose book you are submitting to. Email submissions to juliehskokna@gmail.com or message “Julie Hartman Skokna” on Facebook Messenger. Images can include photos of past Creative City events, poems, letters about what makes their educator special, artwork that expresses their connection to our school, or simply a picture of your student. Don’t forget instructors who don’t have homerooms, like our A-Team or REST team. Also, feel free to include materials for educators your student may have had in the past. All submissions will be used exclusively for this project and will be made available only to the specified teacher. All in person learners MUST have a signed consent form on file at the school, or they will be excluded from in-person learning beginning next week (4/19). (Form)
This week we are making preparations to welcome some of our students back to in-person learning. All students will have a bit more asynchronous (independent learning) time, this week only, while our staff makes final preparations for this transition. Your teacher will provide directions about what work students should complete during this asynchronous time. Whether your child will be returning in person or remaining virtual, we are working hard to ensure a smooth transition so that ALL learners have the best possible experience for the remainder of the school year. Families of in-person learners will be receiving an email early this week confirming their teacher, their schedule, and any details they need to know. Families of virtual learners will be notified directly this week if there are changes that apply to them. Some homeroom changes are needed to respond to the new structures of in-person learning, but this will not impact every student.
March 12, 2021 Dear Families, We are busily preparing for school re-opening on April 12 for those families who have elected to return. We have designed a plan that ensures equitable access to instructional resources to both in-person and virtual learners. In summary, the final plan has the following components and was developed after reviewing the number of in-person learners and their distribution by grade level:
Additionally, to account for the potential homeroom class changes that will occur in this plan, we have extended second trimester for this year only. We will remain in Trimester 2 through April 9, with report cards coming out on April 16. Trimester 3 will begin the day homeroom changes take effect, Monday, April 12, and it will be shorter than usual (45 days long, the same as a standard academic quarter). This plan accommodates the 105 students (30% of our total students) whose families responded to the Opt-In survey by March 1st that they wanted to take part in our in-person learning program. We are keeping a waiting list for those who responded on March 2nd or after. .
We will have information sessions for families to discuss the information in this letter and to respond to questions you may have. Please visit us on the Community Breakfast link on Zoom at one of the following times (content will be the same at each meeting): Wednesday, March 17 at 6:00pm Thursday, March 18 at 9:00am We look forward to working with you and your family to support success and achievement for all of our students.
