Welcome to Creative City, where K-5 learning springs to life. Success is in our DNA, and we work daily to bring out the best in our students. We're located in the heart of Baltimore, where the city thrives. Our place-based teaching method uses the richness of urban vibes and culture to cultivate a hands-on learning environment students love. We champion the power of education rooted in our local community - that's why we call it place-based education. To us, the best way to stimulate young minds is to use the environment around them so they know, in real time, why their education is crucial. What is Place-Based Education? It's an approach that uses the world around us as a classroom. Students develop critical skills while connecting with their surroundings. From outdoor gardens to museum field trips, using our city as a jumping off point for curriculum improves motivation, boosts performance, and creates an early appreciation for the local community. But that's not all. Teachers and staff at Creative City go beyond traditional teaching methods. We infuse the visual, musical, and performing arts into our curriculum to create an immersive learning experience. Our students learn math while playing music; they discover technology while building robots. Incorporating the arts into every subject fires up creativity and promotes collaboration. It encourages personal expression. Whether observing art to spark discussions or creating it to solve problems, the Creative City way makes learning fun! Student Highlights Our students' success stories speak for themselves. Take a look at Mehki Lee, a talented second-grader whose artwork was selected to represent Baltimore City Public Schools at a prestigious art show. Then there's Ms. Gordy's class, who wrote and performed a play called "Foxy Grandpa" at the Young Playwright's Festival, beating out hundreds of applicants! Amani McLean, Henry Walker, Triniece Carter, Samantha Stanford, Teneille Woodard, and many more students have showcased their artworks in renowned exhibits, recognizing their talent and dedication. Play-Based Kindergarten Education should be a joyful journey, starting from an early age. That's why our Kindergarten program is play-based, allowing students to learn through play. These settings also help them develop essential skills and socialize with their peers. Our dedicated teachers are always there, engaging with students during playtime, connecting to the curriculum, and nurturing emerging interests. And the value of play extends beyond Kindergarten—daily recess and play are a priority for all our students.
